If you or your child are new to herbal medicine, we highly recommend doing your own research. The herbs chosen for these formulas were chosen as herbs commonly safe for children.
*‘Herbalist Rosemary Gladstar explains, “My experience has been that almost any herb that is safe for an adult is safe for a child as long as the size and weight of the child are accounted for, and the dosage is adjusted accordingly."
**"So, if an adult can safely drink one cup of tea, a seven-year-old that weighs around 50 lbs. can have 1/3 of the tea, so water it down. For salves, be sure to perform a spot check, where you ensure there will be no adverse reactions, so place a small amount on the inner arm and wait a few hours before continuing use. Extracts can be used in very small amounts, diluted in a beverage. For example, a calming tincture may be used for a seven-year-old, but one single drop would be our recommended starting place." We never suggest the use of potent extracts or essential oils on children under three, and we only use gentle herbs and simple recipes on babies as they are so small and fragile. As always, run the ingredients and method by your doctor or a medical professional, as we're not doctors.’
